The Smile Centre was founded by Dr San Chan and Dr Fiona Pond, a husband-and-wife team who combined their expertise and passion for dentistry to create a welcoming, patient-focused practice. Dr San began his dental journey in Langwarrin, establishing a practice originally known as Langwarrin Dental in 1991. The clinic grew with the community and was completely rebuilt in 2012 to provide a modern, welcoming space. Dr Fiona brought her extensive experience caring for patients in Heidelberg and Kew, and together they formed The Smile Centre to provide high-quality, compassionate care across both locations.

In Heidelberg, the clinic was first located in a medical centre on Burgundy Street before moving to our purpose-built facility on Darebin Street in 2017. 

Dr San is now retired and Dr Fiona leads the practice with the same commitment to friendly, professional, and community-focused dentistry, supported by our dedicated and passionate team.
